KIA ORA! HOLA! 你好吗 ! HEY HOMIES! WELCOME to the 8th TILT ⚡️
Happy E Q U I N O X y’all. And no, we’re not out here shilling the largest luxury fitness empire of the US. It was the marker of the start of SPRING 🌱 or AUTUMN 🍂 , depending on which side of the old equator you fall on. How good does the New Astrological Year feel so far? What content are you adamant about absorbing throughout this fresh new season? Let’s hope it involves a lil bit of tilting…
A FRESH TILT : ‘iteration is perfection, stagnation is death’
- Miki Agrawal, Disrupt-Her
We, Blaise + Mahoney, are jazzed to give you the super news about the neue direction we are tilting into.
Your favorite sisters at SUPERTILT HQ will still be pumping out media goodness for y'all. This mean we will be channelling our energy towards encouraging folx to boldly tilt into the new frontiers of Web3 + impact*.
We want to help you understand why Web3 matters, how we can leverage new technologies to create positive impact and empower you to tilt into disruptive missions.
We're going to be sharing intel + interviews with dope humans around the world on the topics of Web3 + impact. Stay tuned with us here on Substack and subscribed to the pod on Apple + Spotify.
We'll also be hosting regular rooms on the Clubhouse app where we have a thriving SUPERTILT club, filled with epic TILTRs from all corners of the globe. As mentioned in Ep.7, we are #bullish on Clubhouse + audio networking, so holla at us on there, and let's dive in deeper + talk it out in person (Android users, fear not, you will be connected super soon).
We also want to say a super special shoutout to TILTR Aidan Kenealy for being a meaningful collaborator in the early SUPERTILT journey. It was an epic honour to co-create media magic and gain insights from his founder wisdom + tech industry passions. Aidan's ability to be a successful startup investor/ adviser/ father/ golfer/ creator extraordinaire is awesome inspo for tilting into all the joys of life with panache (+ caffeinated beverages ☕️ ).
*TL;DR:
Web3: the new decentralized way of doing things. Internet, media, content, infrastructure*...*basically everything, in a new, transparent + user-empowered format.
Impact: solving the critical issues of our time, planet positivity, environmental intersectionality and social equity.
WHAT THE FOIL?!
Onto some wavey news flow... we wanna do a big S/O to the men of the past weeks who fully captured our attention (and vocal chords)… the Team NZ sailors who came out victorious with the America's Cup. Athletes of the waters. Grinders of the yachts. The kiwi lads doubled down and came out with a FULL SEND victory against the Luna Rossa-endowed Italianos, to claim that audacious Auld Mug of a Cup.
It seems the NZ crew were just straight up faster and cleaner through their tacks, thanks in part to hoisting a smaller jib than the Italians. (For those new to the sailing terms, a smaller sail means less flap, less drag and therefore, more speed.) ⛵️💨
A key takeaway from the whole comp for us was that the state of #SailingTech has exponentially advanced in recent years, so much so it now feels more akin to SpaceX on the water. Maybe Musk will be down to sponsor the next Cup…We are in un-chartered waters after all.
UPCOMING GOODNESS:
Stacking those sats* is still the name of the 2021 financial game. Yes, ₿TC is still in a solid #bullrun, and this coming week, we drop in with our OG blockchain buddy @blockchainbrit to give you the low-down on Bitcoin and why you should care.
Brit is an SF-native, serial tech biz dev/product whizz who’s been around the proverbial block, racing all over the crypto sphere and back again. We'll be diving into why Brit is so bullish on ₿TC, her story from early poker game battles with bitcoiners in 2011, to her more recent personal journey of self discovery and healing in Hawaii + looping back to her SF homeland.
*Sats is short for Satoshis, the smallest unit of Bitcoin (₿TC).

MINDFULNESS 🧠 HACK OF THE WEEK:
Take Inspiration from Thích Nhất Hạnh 🦶
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is a global spiritual leader, poet and peace activist, revered for his teachings on mindfulness, global ethics and peace. He has been a pioneer in bringing mindfulness to the West since the early 1970s, developing new ways to apply ancient wisdom to the challenges of modern life.
Mindfulness isn’t hard work…you don’t necessarily need a subscription to the latest meditation app (as cool as some are) or a yoga studio membership to be mindful.
Take a leaf out of Thich’s Nhat Hanh’s book and bring your mind back to the body, the present moment, by simply walking.
Wherever we walk, we can practice meditation by simply knowing we are walking. Enjoying every step, feeling the contact of our feet connecting with the Earth, noticing our flow of breath. Harmonizing our steps with our breathing, we can be aware of the whole body walking. Then, open our senses to sounds around us. Look up and notice the horizon. Connected to our five senses, we are here, in the present. Every step can be nourishing and healing.🦶
“When we walk like (we are rushing), we print anxiety and sorrow on the earth. We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on the earth... Be aware of the contact between your feet and the earth. Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.” - Thich Nhat Hanh
WHAT WE'RE LISTENING 🎶 TO:
This week we're adamantly listening to Marlon Williams. Who we happened to see LIVE (yes, that's right, a real live in person, face to face show) in an historic, town hall on an autumnal evening in NZ for his intimate and much anticipated solo tour.
One key takeaway. Never again will we underestimate the the value of live performances and penguin 🐧 songs. This time in the form of the magical Marlon and the humble Hoiho. Aka the yellow-eyed penguin which beat out all other birds to win NZ Bird of the Year 2019 (the first seabird ever to claim such a spot).
We're particularly digging his Dark Child tune... which you can get on the record if you fancy! We think you'll be nicely surprised by this South Island dude who has one of the most sublime + effortlessly distinctive voices of his generation. 💙
